PAN PODIUM

PAN Podium offers the visitors of PAN Amsterdam a varied program full of inspiring talks and interactive presentations. The many diverse art disciplines, the art market and the fun of collecting are central to this. This year, the daily programming will be centred around a different theme, from museums to young collectors and from jewellery to old masters. All fair visitors are welcome to this daily changing programme.

Aya Musa, curator at Foam, will be in conversation with Aernoud Bourdrez, copyright lawyer and collector of contemporary photography. They will discuss Rentmeester's iconic photo of Michael Jordan and its relationship to Nike's Jordan logo, viewed from an artistic, symbolic, and legal perspective.

Photographer Vincent Mentzel is celebrating his eightieth birthday this year. He will be in conversation with art historian Antoon Melissen, biographer of German photographer Lothar Wolleh. Together they will discuss the personal bond between photographer and subject, and the role of staging versus the spontaneous moment.

Maartje van den Heuvel, curator of photography at Leiden University Library, will discuss the professional development of female photographers in the twentieth century with Fiepke van Niel, curator at Museum Hilversum, and art historian Nienke Coers. The starting point is the recent research—facilitated by the Rembrandt Association—on the work of Hungarian photographer Eva Besnyö.

Curator Madelief Hohé and journalist Cathelijne Blok will discuss the exhibition "The Last Dance," which features original costumes from the iconic film Titanic and previously unseen clothing and accessories from 1910 from the museum's collection, alongside work by contemporary designers.

Head of Collections Research Dick van Broekhuizen explores the work of guided visual artist Ryan Gander (born 1976), which is brought into dialogue at the Beelden aan Zee museum with the sculpture La Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans by French painter and sculptor Edgar Degas (1834-1917). In two attempts, Gander lifts Degas's famous fourteen-year-old dancer from her pedestal and places her in different scenarios.

Director Jan van den Berg and Rijksmuseum curator Maria Holtrop discuss OTEMBA – Daring Women, a musical theater performance by Theater Adhoc and New European Ensemble, co-produced with the Holland Festival for Amsterdam 750. Inspired by a 17th-century painting, the performance explores themes of identity, colonial legacy, and the power of women.

In this lecture, artist Mattia Papp will discuss his multidisciplinary practice, in which food, ceramics, and painting merge with theatricality and myth. For the first time, Museum Boefjes and the Kröller-Müller Museum are joining forces at PAN Podium! Toddlers and preschoolers will discover Museum Boefjes cabinets featuring art from the Kröller-Müller collection, along with Sara Backer. Little book fans will listen to "Frog Looks at Art," while older siblings will build a mini Kröller-Müller sculpture garden. Art for all ages at PAN Podium!
