description
This monumental canvas, measuring 195 x 130 cm, recently featured prominently in the exhibition 'Yves Klein and his artist family: Frits, Marie and Rotraut'. In this work, Frits Klein creates a dynamic circus performance in which graceful horses and figures float weightlessly through a dreamy arena. The composition is bathed in a sun-drenched light that directly recalls Henri Matisse's legendary Collioure period, where shadow gave way to pure, liberated planes of color. Employing his signature color palette, he demonstrates a fabulous, poetic expressive power in this masterpiece.
