Painted with a scene from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Chapters 41 and 42 recount how Liu Bei was defeated by his rival Cao Cao at Changbanpo in 208 AD, during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Fleeing south with his troops, Liu Bei was forced to abandon his wife, Lady Mi, and his son, Liu Shan. A similar charger is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum, inv. no. O76771
