PAN Podium

Bridging tradition and innovation in the art world begins at PAN Podium.

An art fair is more than just a place to buy art. It’s also a space to be inspired, to connect, to enjoy, and to exchange knowledge. All of these elements come together extensively on PAN Podium: a platform for in-depth exploration at the fair.

"At PAN Podium, current themes and developments are discussed, expertise is shared, and communities within the worlds of art, antiques, and design can come together," says Margitte Verwoerdt, Head of Programming, Partnerships and Events at PAN Amsterdam. Since 2021, she and Janneke Luns have brought greater focus to PAN’s content programming by organizing the events into themed days and collaborating with a broader range of partners. The goal: to reach more diverse audiences and make PAN accessible to anyone with an interest in art.

"Each year, carefully selected themes are chosen for discussion at PAN Podium. "We determine the themes based on trends we observe in the field, which can have either a social or aesthetic angle. For example, we might explore the positive impact of art on our physical and mental well-being, developments in provenance research related to colonial heritage, or the growing interest in art by female creators. Based on this thematic framework, we invite fair participants, museum curators, artists, and various experts to help shape the complete program, which includes around 40 talks and panel discussions."PAN Podium serves as a meeting point between the traditional and contemporary art worlds. "This is one of our core objectives."

Each year, PAN Podium presents a comprehensive program filled with inspiring conversations and interactive presentations. During the fair, each day centers on a specific theme, highlighted through current topics by exhibitors, art historians, artists, and various experts. All fair visitors are warmly invited to attend this ever-changing daily program.
