description
Afroditi Terzi’s work merges textile craft and painting, exploring landscape and the theme of relationality. By combining sewing with water-based media, she investigates the interconnectedness, complexity, and fluidity within the landscapes we inhabit-either geographical, emotional, psychological, or bodily.
Her work is guided more by process than outcome. She draws with the sewing machine like automatic writing, and responds intuitively to the unpredictable dialogue between thread, paint, and water. Texture, absorption, and chance guide each work, revealing how form emerges through interaction rather than control.
Terzi is drawn to the in-between; where a mark can be both deliberate and accidental, a place can be both familiar and strange. Through the interplay of precision and surrender, her layered, fluid surfaces reimagine landscapes as living encounters-always shifting, always becoming. A parallel to the forces that shape how we relate to the world and ourselves.
