description
Paddy’s traditional country lies North West of Nyirripi approximately 500 km from Alive Springs. The Tingari design in this painting is associated with Mina Mina salt lake which is also painted by his daughters Dorothy Napangardi and Margaret Lewis Napangardi. The Tingari legend remains a closely guarded secret amongst the senior Warlpiri custodians. The activities that took place during the time of creation, or Tjukurrpa, are land marked by a series of geological features. These are regarded as evidence left by the ancestors to indicate sacred sites.
Please note that all First Nations Art is created from a so called ‘Birds Eye’ view. This means that the paintings can be hung either horizontally as well as vertically.
