description

This 20th-century Japanese celadon vase, standing 25 cm high, is a remarkable work by Nakajima Hiroshi (1941–2018), signed "Hiroshi" on the base. Hiroshi, a former Living National Treasure (LNT) of Japan, was renowned for his mastery of celadon ceramics, drawing inspiration from Chinese Song dynasty wares. The vase features a bulbous body, tapering neck, and raised bands, all covered in a captivating blue-green celadon glaze with a fine crackle. This piece exemplifies his celebrated luminous glazes, elegant forms, and technical precision. It includes its original, signed tomobako (wood storage box).
