Rare Palan bookcase designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara for La Permanente Mobili Cantù, Italy, 1957.

This large wooden bookcase features an open shelving structure with multiple compartments arranged across four horizontal levels. The design incorporates sliding panels in contrasting shades of blue, yellow, grey and pale pink, allowing sections of the shelving to be concealed or exposed.

The construction consists of horizontal shelves supported by vertical wooden partitions, creating an asymmetrical arrangement of storage spaces. The combination of natural wood and coloured panels is a distinctive feature of the design.

A rare example of Tapiovaara's furniture designs produced in Italy.
