description
Alexandra Leyre Mein enjoys working with Hydrostone, a strong type of plaster, into which she incorporates pieces of natural stone. The title ‘Mountain particles’ reveals the origin of these pieces of natural stone.
Her sculptures suggest a sense of ongoing growth and evolution, whilst also alluding to the fragility of life – a duality that deeply moves Alexandra.
During the sculpting process, Alexandra regards the busts as three-dimensional sketches whose beauty lies in the emptiness of the unfinished lines.
