description
Sarah Pschorn lives and works in Leipzig, but grew up amidst the Baroque architecture of Dresden, which remains a major source of inspiration in her body of work to this day.
Sarah is regarded as a distinctive voice amongst a younger generation of contemporary ceramic artists in Germany. She transforms traditional forms such as vases and vessels into expressive, sculptural objects. Her work deliberately strikes a balance between elegance and excess.
The addition of lustre creates a subtle pearlescent sheen. It is these nuances and subtleties that make Sarah Pschorn’s sculptures so special.
It reminds us of a few lines from the song ‘Pieces’ by Trixie Whitley:
‘In the graveyard of modern days
The sensual touch is
All that remains
You
Blew the fragile grace
On my skin and in my face’
Sarah Pschorn’s works have a tactile quality. Be sure to take a look at the beautiful glazes on the inside of this large vase sculpture.
