Detail Description

These elegant asymmetrical candlesticks, chased with flowers and foliage rise from high domed, spreading bases bordered by c-scrolls and foliage. The detachable nozzles are moulded with foliage. Fully marked at the interior of the base, also marked with a crowned O for 1807.

This pair of candlesticks was presented at the exhibition ‘Johannes Schiotling, een Amsterdamse zilversmid (1730-1799) en zijn kring’ in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 1976. During the Rococo period Johannes Schiotling often made use of flower and foliage motifs in his designs.
