Hotei Japanese Prints
‘Pupils of the eyes’, Hitomi.
Published in 1931. Woodblock print, 53.4 x 30.5 cm.
One of the most stunning 20th century Japanese prints by the artist who excelled in the portrayal of contemporary beauties which championed modern fashion and expressed a sense of independence and modernity.
This print additionally exhibits the extreme quality of printing achieved during the first decades of the 20th century: an intricate silver pattern decorates the scarf.
It is rare, printed in an edition of just 100 copies, expensive and in immaculate condition.
