Bruno Walpoths mensen van linde- of notenhout ontstaan in de ontmoeting en confrontatie met modellen. Op een schaal van 1:1 worden de lichamen, de lijnen en de vormen van de enkele jonge uitgemergelde mannen en de vele mooie vrouwen uit het blok hout gesneden. Hoewel Walpoth wordt aangetrokken door de concrete weergave van lichaamsdelen, zoals een schouder of een enkel, en een goed succes hem voldoening schenkt, is hij niet geïnteresseerd in het creëren van een hyperrealistisch beeld van de mensen die voor hem staan: Het uiterlijk van het model dient als omhulsel voor impliciete projecties. De gelaatstrekken en lichaamsvormen komen overeen met die van de modellen, maar Bruno Walpoth neemt sterke karakteristieke kenmerken van de persoonlijkheid - die in de klassieke zin van het portret staan voor individualiteit - terug in zijn sculpturale imitatie.



Bruno Walpoth's people made of lime or walnut wood are created in the encounter and confrontation with models. On a scale of 1:1, the bodies, the lines and the forms of the few young gaunt men and many beautiful women are carved out of the block of wood. Even though Walpoth is attracted by the concrete reproduction of body parts, such as a shoulder or an ankle, and a good success gives him satisfaction, he is not interested in creating a hyper-realistic image of the people standing before him: The model's outward appearance serves as a shell for implied projections. The facial features and body shapes correspond to those of the models, but Bruno Walpoth takes back strong characteristic features of the personality - which in the classical sense of the portrait stand for individuality - in his sculptural imitation.
