Chikuden Tanomura (1777- 1835)

The kyûsu is engraved with a flowering plum branch and a reishi, the mushroom of long life, together with a poem

The poem is about the first pick of exceptional quality tea from Fujian:
The 'Curled-up Grey Dragon' lives up to its name.

Chikuden was one of the most important painters in the early 19th century. He made occasionally ceramics for the tea ceremony of which this is a fine example.
