Erik van der Esch reacts with this painting to the abundance of interventions from society on absolutely everything. With his usual and non-judgmental commentary, he moves the actors from the sidelines to the stage. It can hardly be more democratic. Although the tenor of the subjects is usually extremely serious, he can certainly enjoy himself as a spectator.
